Cultural competence is the ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures. It goes beyond awareness and tolerance to include identifying one's own cultural assumptions, values, and beliefs and examining the impact of those beliefs on our interactions with people.

Cultural Competency for Educators is a PELSB-approved course that meets licensure renewal requirements for K-12 educators in Minnesota who need to complete cultural competency training.
